So dancers have this phenomenon where we walk everywhere faster than the average population. It stems from a long history of trying to walk across a 25-meter stage in eight counts or less and from our instructors and coaches constantly yelling “walk with purpose!!!” It’s super fun when you’re 5”2’ and have the legs of a munchkin from the wizard of Oz. Nonetheless this didn’t stop us! Although we had to drastically slow down our pace, on September 2nd our team got to participate in Calgary’s Annual Pride Parade! This gave our team an opportunity to show our love and support for Calgary’s diverse community, giving the phrase “walk with purpose” a whole new meaning.

Welcome to the Beat!
(Get it? Because "beat" as in "beat reporter for newspapers" and "beat" as in "musical unit of time"?) (Clever, we know) Beat by Cubs is anything and everything the Cubs lifestyle encompasses. This includes: pets, cereal preferences, good and bad fashion decisions with a pinch of passion for dance. We are the "I have my life together, love being ready on time, and having my homework done" girls mixed with the "where am I and what have I done with my lip gloss" kinda gals. Here we post our adventures around YYC and the wonderful place that is Mount Royal University as a "sneak-a-peek" (it's better than stampedes's - we promise) into the dancers' lives! Want us to post about something you like? Leave us comments below and follow our hashtag (#BeatbyCubs) to keep up to date on everything "Cubs"! TBH, just follow us on everything so you're up to date (@mrucubsdanceteam). You're gonna love us! -XOXO Cubs |
