Get to Know Haily:
Three words I think describe me are, autonomous, energetic and determined.
I auditioned for the Cubs Dance Team because I wanted to get back into dancing after having to take a couple years off from training. I missed performing and training long hours in the studio and found that although I liked Mount Royal as a school, I wasn’t enjoying my university experience as much as I hoped I would. I talked to a few students around campus, and the students that were really enjoying their time at school were fully involved in the university campus life. Not only academically but physically and socially as well. After Joining the Cubs Dance Team I found myself a lot happier at school. The team not only fulfills my passion for dance, it also helps me with staying focused with my classes. Twice a week I have something to look forward to after long days of classes and for Four hours during the week I get to mentally relax from my studies and enjoy what I love doing most. On top of that the team has also introduced me to an awesome group of girls that are not only my teammates but friends as well which really makes walking around campus a lot more enjoyable! I trained at The School of Alberta Ballet in the professional division for 16 years. In the summers I took classes at Decidedly Jazz Dance Works in addition to training year round at SAB. I Lived in New York to Train at Alvin Aliey American Dance Theater for a year focusing on Modern and contemporary. I am formerly trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary and modern. Since joining the Cubs and now most recently with the Roughnecks Drill Crew dance team, I have started to learn more hip hop, which is much more entertaining for sporting events!
My Favorite part about Cougars gameday is getting ready for the game, hair, makeup and putting on the cute uniform. Once that is done I love performing on the court, especially since we usually have two dances to perform, one for each game, women’s and men’s.I’m in Anthropology, and I find that I enjoy the majority of my classes, one class that really stood out for me was my Anthro. Cross-Cultural Communication & Business. The prof was genuinely into the course and had a lot of personal experiences to share examples for each topic throughout the class material! I would recommend the class to anyone, especially those who are in business! I’m not 100% sure where exactly my path will take me, I have so many interests that I am hoping that I will be presented with a career opportunity that I find myself loving to go to everyday.
