Get to Know Kaitlyn:
Three words I would use to describe myself would be enthusiastic, passionate, and logical. I joined the the MRU Cubs Dance team this year as a way to continue dancing after high school, as well as get involved on campus and meet new people. I love the team because all the girls are amazing humans and extremely supportive, as well as it gives me the opportunity to keep up my skills in dance. My favourite part about game days is performing for the crowd and showing off all our hard work we put into each and every routine! I’ve been dancing since I was seven years old, training intensively in ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, hip hop, contemporary, and acro. For the past 6 years I have also competed in local and regional competitions, achieving many awards and scholarships in solos, duets, and group numbers. I have had many performing opportunities as well, such as dancing in Disneyland, Universal Studios, the Spruce Meadows International Christmas Festival, and an array of charity events in Calgary. My love of dance has continuously evolved and it’s basically a part of who I am now. Aside from the MRU Cubs, I currently train with iLLFX Education and am a company member of En Corps Dance Collective. When possible, I try to take technique classes at both my home studio and other studios in the city. And when I’m not dancing, I teach dance to children at Fox Dance Company! I am currently in my first year of a Bachelor in Health Sciences, however I have aspirations to move forward in the mathematics direction, hoping to pursue higher education in the field, or possibly teach math one day.
